Did you know that most Chinese restaurants don’t really serve you Traditional Chinese food? It’s true!
This is Li Min (李敏), my Nai Nai or my grandmother. Li Min is a first Generation immigrant from Kaohsiung City, Taiwan. However in Nai Nai’s house— everything is traditional. Just the way we like it!
Have you ever heard of Ba Wan, the Taiwanese mega-dumpling thats made of rice flour and corn starch thats stuffed with pork, veggies, and sometimes eggs with rich, dark gravy poured on top? Or Ban Tiao with thick, flat, slippery noodles that are part of the Hakka culinary tradition and usually found in Kaohsiung’s Meinong district served in hot soup or stir fried with pork for a rustic taste and texture.
